Jehovah’s Witnesses Least Likely to Accept Evolution

In 2009, while the world is celebrating Charles Darwin’s 200th birth anniversary, US scientists have a unique challenge: to convince 60% of their countrymen that God did not create man. It might seem odd that a country, which has won the maximum number of Nobel prizes, sent a man to the moon, and has the best universities in the world, takes the antediluvian creation myth in the book of Genesis literally.

UBC Science Week hosts James Randi as Keynote Speaker

Every year the Science Undergraduate Society of the University of British Columbia (UBC), hosts an annual event, “Science Week,” that kicks off with a keynote speach. This year the University has obtained James Randi, a well-known magician and escape artist, who promotes skepticism of pseudoscience and the supernatural. Mr. Randi has dedicated his life to debunking and exposing well known faith-healers such as Peter Popoff and psychics such as Uri Geller. He has won the McArther Foundation “Genius” award for his work and has received numerous other awards and recognitions.

The Large Hadron Collider - CERN
Doomsayers are trying to stop the largest and most advanced scientific experiment the world has ever seen, one that has the potential to unlock many secrets about our universe and answer questions physicists have asked for centuries.  The LHC is an enormous particle accelerator and is not the first - just the biggest. I’ve been asked many times why I am an Atheist. Often that question is phrased as ‘why do you believe in Atheism?’  I first have to correct the question before I can answer it.
