JW Doctrine, Miscellaneous, Personal Experiences »

Recently I’ve been posting some videos on YouTube which have received their fair share of criticism from current Jehovah’s Witnesses and Witness defenders. Needless to say it has seemed like a futile debate back and forth with no real winners. Then something interesting happened. I received an email from one such person. This individual turned out to be an active witness, in fact, he is an elder in his congregation.
I began by expressing that I was very much like him at one time too. I was a pioneer, I had …

I suppose it’s time to come out of the shadows. I finally took the plunge and decided to speak out using YouTube as my forum. There is a group of “Recovering Jehovah’s Witnesses” on MySpace that has bravely and admirably spearheaded a series of videos on YouTube titled “I’m Sorry I knocked”. I found so much inspiration in their unclouded thinking and their well-expressed messages.

Since I myself have been disfellowshipped by the Jehovah’s Witnesses one might consider this a very touchy subject for me. Without a doubt it has been the single most devastating experience of my life and one that I will likely have to deal with indefinitely. Not a pleasant thing to have to consider…
What does it mean to be disfellowshipped?
To be disfellowshipped from the Jehovah’s Witnesses essentially means that the Organization/Society/Church renounces your status as a baptized member and minister within their congregation. They explain that they do not want unbelievers …

This just in from a senior member at JWD Forum:
I couldn’t help but get a kick out of it. I lived in fear of that word for too long and now it is a tribute to time and a lot of support over the years that I can actually post this and laugh about it!
Many thanks to the creator (of the image).
