I feel sorry for the family. I also feel sorry for any JW who have to live their life listening to the Watchtower and not the bible. I was raised a JW I am not 32 and had depression all my life. Now I am set free by Christ. I still study but now I only use my bible. I still have one sister who is a witness and hope that someday she will see the light. (she also struggles with depression)

Jason just did more for educating potential seekers on the fanatical ravings of JW's than what anyone could ever say here. I was raised as a JW, never baptized, and could see the hypocrisy and brainwashing by the time I was 10. I left, and was fortunate to be able to get my parents out also. They had been in for over 20 years, and had already lost their two eldest sons to the "world", I refused to go at 16 (found out they couldn't legally force me to go at that age), and the thought of having their entire family ripped apart, coupled with the enormous hypocrisy in the reality of JW's finally convinced them to listen to logic and reason. They have been out for over 10 years now, and are so regretful and embarrassed over what they allowed to happen in their family. My mother suffered for years with severe depression and suicidal thoughts after removing herself as she was wracked with guilt and remorse of what she had done to her children.

So, Watchtowers Witnesses, thank you for your completely accurate, and really, very kind assessment of JWs.

I read an Awake! article this morning:

If you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things. Why not? Because all the evidence in fulfillment of Bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years. Of the generation that observed the beginning of the "last days" in 1914, Jesus foretold: "This generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur."-Matt. 24:34

Therefore, as a young person, you will never fulfill any career that this system offers. If you are in high school and thinking about a college education, it means at least four, perhaps even six or eight more years to graduate into a specialized career. But where will this system of things be by that time? It will be well on the way towards its finish, if not actually gone! --Awake! May 22 1969

Someone 18 years old (possibly considering college at that time) would have been born in 1951 & would now be 59...eligible for Social Security in just 3 more years (full benefits if they wait an additional 4 years.) It's a good thing they'll "never grow old in this present system of things."

Oh, and before you say that I've got my head in the sand again, as you love to do, I would like to know what your plan is?

Are you going to go up there and fix the hole in the ozone layer yourself are you?

Are you going to personally ask all the terrorists to please stop blowing things up are you?

How exactly are you going to fix all the problems at the moment in the world?

Why don't you focus some of your time on solving problems like those, if you think we don't need the Creator to fix everything up for us?

He he he he, Enjoy Gehenna, Thats certainly where you belong. Me, I'll be enjoying everlasting life, building a log cabin on a mountain side somewhere, forever grateful to my creator Jehovah, for giving me the wisdom to see through evil deception like yours. Well, attempted deception anyway.

oh, Yeah, and I forgot to mention to you that I'll be enjoying having my own Lion and Lioness pets, along with my own flock of flamingos, as well as a couple of toucan birds. Yes, people, it is a promise of the almighty god Jehovah's that when he makes all things new again, that we will have the whole animal kingdom in subjection to us, as was originally intended. Read it all in the bible... Funny how none of the good news about the future, is ever brought up by anyone here, when that, is essentially, what the Jehovah's Witnesses try to teach to people. Live by the rules set by God Almighty himself, in the bible, and get everlasting life in a earth restored back to perfection, by Jehovah God himself, so you know its going to unbelievable good,.. or listen and believe what watchtowers witnesses has to tell you, and never find out about how easy it is, to just live by the common sense standards set out in the Bible, but instead, be blinded by the evil deception being spread here by watchtowers witnesses (and of which, is explicitly warned against in the bible), and lose out on a chance of being in that new world system in a paradise earth.

Just think about it.. It's so obvious that mankind has no way or means of fixing the earth that it has polluted and partly ruined, So either you believe that mankind will just eventually wipe itself by ruining its own home, or that the divine creator of everything, has everything in hand, and a plan (a grand plan!) all prepped to act on.

Yeah, I'm going with the latter myself.

Hi Watchtowers Witnesses,
I'm terribly sorry that you suffer from being a compulsive liar, and a bad one at that. If anyone bothers reading this far past that ridiculous ramble of lies, just reverse everything that was written in the above post, and you might be somewhere close to what is actually the truth about the Govering Body. I read 3 articles in the Watchtower magazine on the train today. I have never felt the ride to work go so fast before, I was loving being able to switch off from all the filthy language from teenagers and learn a bit more about the New Heavens and New Earth that our Loving God Jehovah has waiting in store for his people.

I know you take this on as a challenge to see how many people you can steer away from learning the truth about Jehovah's Witnesses. Why would you want to do such a thing? You won't even get a chance at getting through armageddon mate. You'll be classed as an apostate, don't you know that? You do know that you are sinning against Jehovah's spirit, doing what you do here, don't you????

Hi Jason. You say "We are happy to believe what we believe..." I think it would be more accurate to say "We are happy to believe what we are TOLD to believe". Unquestioning obedience is one of the main requirements from the Governing Body. They don't want their members thinking. They just want the members to accept whatever they're told like mindless drones. Again I ask what kind of an organization would want to keep it's members uneducated? You need to put some serious thought into that question.

I should let you know that I was born and raised in the "Truth". So you will not be able to whitewash or deny the practices of the Watchtower Society to me. I'm still trapped within the organization. If I leave my own parents and family will treat me as if I’m dead. I didn’t chose to be in a cult, I was born into one. And now there is no honorable way to escape. My sister was disfellowshiped for fornication with her "worldly" boyfriend. Well guess what, she is now married to him. She is no longer a fornicator. She is not an evil person or celebrating any pagan holidays. In fact I believe she is a better person and less judgmental than most of the JW’s I know at the Kingdom Hall. But my parents haven't talked to her for over five years because she no longer wants to be part of the doomsday cult they are in. When I saw the way she was treated and the complete lack of real love within the congregation I began to research as much as I could about the JW's. There is a very good reason they don't want people reading anything negative about them. The true history of the Watchtower Society is very embarrassing.

You evidently disagree with my statement that “JW’s bury their heads in the sand when presented with proof that they are in doomsday cult”. I could word it differently but the message is still the same. JW’s are TRAINED to ignore anything critical of the group. We both know you can’t deny the “Doomsday” nature of the group. It doesn’t get any more obvious than telling people that the end of this world is near and if your not in our “special” little club you will be murdered by God. If you don’t believe the JW’s are a cult, I ask you how much do you really know about cults? Have you ever studied anything about how to spot common warning signs of cults? You say you don’t “bury your head in the sand”, so I challenge you to study as much as you can about cults. This way you can decide for yourself if the Watchtower Society uses cult like tactics to keep people trapped in the organization. Instead of wasting time out in field service why don’t you take the time to educate yourself.

Since you probably will bury your head in the sand I will just demonstrate a few common cult like behaviors that can be found in the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Teach that salvation can only be found within the group. Demonize everone not in the cult. Claim that the end of the world is coming and everyone outside the cult will be destroyed. Indoctrinate phobias about ever leaving the group. Completely shun former members, even family members. The shunning policy keeps people in fear of ever leaving the cult. Control the information that members can read about the group. Teach that any information critical of the group comes from “Evil Apostates”. Preemptively warn potential converts that they will be persecuted for joining this “true religion”. When family and friends later show concern about their relative joining a cult the recently converted will feel as though the recruiters were right about the group being “persecuted”. Isolate the members from non-members. This helps foster the group think which is crucial for a cult. Enforce the fact that no dissenting opinions are allowed about the groups leaders. Only uplifting comments are allowed. Tell the members that if they don’t report “independent thinkers” to the elders they will be sharing in their crimes and might not be in God’s memory at Armageddon. Teach that working for free as slave labor for the organization is “life-saving” work. Such as recruiting new members or working in a factory printing material for the recruitment work. Teach that the leaders of the group can somehow speak for God. Teach that questioning these MEN who are in charge of the group would be equal to questioning God. Teach that there is no legitimate reason to leave the cult, former members are often portrayed as evil or unrepentant wrongdoers. Teach the members that they should not rely on their own thinking or “understanding”. The leaders of the group will discern “truth” which will then be accepted by the followers without question.

There are a lot of decent people who are JW’s. But that doesn’t change the fact that the group is a cult. Most JW’s don’t even know what kind of a group they’re really in. Do you think they allow themselves to research the real history of this little doomsday cult? Do you know that before the tax laws were changed in 1980 JW’s used to sell all the publications door to door. Think about it. The Watchtower Society, a publishing corporation masquerading as a religion told their followers that their eternal salvation was dependent on going door to door for free selling Watchtower publications and recruiting more people into the organization. These new converts would then also perform this “life saving” work by also becoming unpaid salesman and cult recruiters. It’s like a sick and twisted pyramid scheme. And the mindless drones just do as there told.

You fool "watchtowers witnesses"!

You truly truly are a total fool.

Please allow me to completely obliterate your ridiculously long ramble, by passing off just one of your sentences as total garbage.

quote "If your faith is so strong why do JW’s bury their heads in the sand when confronted with proof that their organization is a cult?"

oh this is too easy... one, we don't bury our heads in the sand, and two, what proof, of our organization being a cult are you talking about?

We are happy to believe what we believe about this world system. We are not afraid of demons and the devil, and we are happy to adhere to local law, wherever we live and pay our taxes. What more can someone ask of any member of society?

It's unfortunate that this woman was driven to end her pain in this way. The "religion" of Jehovah's Witnesses lead many people to depression and mental illness. How could it not? Look at the doctrine honestly. They tell their members that we live in a world controlled by the devil and there are demons that will get them if they leave the special protection of their group. Open your eyes people, it’s a doomsday cult that destroys families. There is no devil, it’s called mythology. Do you believe in Shiva, a Hindu God? Do you believe in Zeus? Probably not, but why believe in the mythology of the Jewish people? What makes their creation story and mythology any more special than any of the other religions around the world who have had their own religions and beliefs that helped them attempt to understand the world they live. Religion is a link to the primitive past that our ancestors lived in, they didn’t have the knowledge to understand the world they lived so they created mythology in order to bring meaning to their lives. We have a lot more knowledge today yet many people cling to the superstitions and ignorant beliefs of our ancestors. Do you really think Jehovah the God of the Jews is going to destroy 99.9 percent of the population simply because they don’t want to be Jehovah’s Witnesses? Think people. It’s okay to have doubts about the instructions from the Governing Body. They really don’t know what they’re doing. Does this New Light about the 1914 generation make any sense to you? It shouldn’t, it’s a doomsday prophecy intended to keep you in fear of leaving the group. They have told you armageddon is near and you will be destroyed if your not in their group. Almost all cults say this. Cults require members to shun family members who leave the cult. This shows how powerful a cult can be, they have the influence to split up the sacred bond between parent and child. But of course the other cult members will become your new “family”. As long as you parrot back the teachings of the Governing Body and never use your brain or have your own opinion about the mythology of the Jewish people these other cult members will have “conditional” love for you. What kind of an organization would want it’s members uneducated? They don’t want intelligent members because they would quite easily see through the nonsense that’s being served up as “Truth”. If it’s the one true religion wouldn’t it stand up to a little scrutiny? What’s the real reason the Governing Body doesn’t want you to research the history of the organization? If your faith is so strong why do JW’s bury their heads in the sand when confronted with proof that their organization is a cult? Find out for yourself, don’t be a brain dead zombie who has lost the ability to think rationally and allows the Governing Body to think for them.
