God Trumps - The Card Game
The New Humanist Magazine has released “God Trumps”, a card game in parody of the Christian game, “Testament Trumps” (which was based on the traditional version, “Top Trumps”). Not to let Christians have the all the fun, Rationalists can now enjoy a game that features many different religious and non-religious characters from around the world rather than just focusing on the Christian genre. It seems only fair after all.
New Humanist Magazine (NHM) is offering a special collectors set of these playing cards as part of a subscription perk. With hilarious and brilliant artwork by Cartoonist Martin Rowson—known best for political satire, which appears in several prominent UK newspapers—these cards are a hoot!
Almost as funny as the cards themselves is the promo on NHM’s website:
“Struggling to choose the top religion? Can’t decide between Bible-thumping evangelism or benign, gentle Buddhism? Make the process fun and easy with God Trumps, our cut-out-and-keep metaphysical card game for all the family.”
You can browse through images of all the cards by clicking here to view Part I or Part II (These links will take you directly the the New Humanist Magazine website).
Not to be left out of course are the Jehovah’s Witnesses, who have been represented by a cartoon of an overweight older woman; a great big closed-mouth smile plastered face; and holding none other than a copy of the watchtower depicting a great fiery explosion with a mushroom cloud. The Witnesses rank only a meager 4/10 for the age of their religion, 5/10 for their wealth, 8/10 for their dedication but take the cake, scoring 10/10 for Daffiest Doctrine - which is actually a toss up between no the blood transfusion rule and the limit on only 144,000 that get to go to heaven.
My other favorite game cards include the: Mormon, Pagan, Scientologist and the Agnostic. But I have to say that my favorite is the ultimate trump card, The Muslim, which grants the holder a points bonus. The card reads,”Well done to the extremist section of this faith for making it impossible to have any kind of reasoned debate, or even a good-humoured laugh around this subject… Remember, while this card may be good for the purposes of the game, it’s bad for the purposes of society at large.”
I don’t know about you but I can’t wait to get my set!

Lol, that looks like a game that I would play. Probably be good at it as well.
