That word "atheist" comes up again, I would say from a religious person's point of view, the word is synonymous with hedonist. Not REMOTELY the same thing, in fact I would bet that hedonists generally come from a background of religion and thus religious rebellion.

People not fearing some god have no paranoia about "sin" to make them anxious to push the boundaries, atheist, or sorry, secular minded people are more interested in getting on with life and making it of the highest quality they can create.

No, not surprising.

Letusreason,

You need to explain your view that moral degradation is an absolute certainty. I see no evidence to suggest this in the world around me part from upon the front pages of newspapers which delight in human misery and feed one's personal dissatisfaction. Humanity is getting 'better' not worse. Look up 'Anhedonic'.

Regards

People will always have consciences... yet regardless of religious belief- or should i say, despite such:

moral degradation is an absolute certainty.. not something which is dependant upon the above. Which society has maintained its moral codes/structures/views over a large period of time and NOT conformed to the ever growing control of the pleasure seeking elite?
