Today I stumbled upon a video series by YouTube publisher WTComments. These two videos feature an interview with Lance Goller, a 2003 graduate of the Watchtower School of Gilead, Jehovah’s Witnesses’ missionary program.
In these videos Lance discusses his experiences at Gilead, his meetings and impressions of the Governing Body as well as questions that he found himself asking about the teachings of the Watchtower. In video one he discusses questions particularly with reference to the year 1919 and its significance in granting authority to the Governing Body.
In the second video Lance relates an experience he had where one of the current members of the Governing Body said that there were things that were printed in the Watchtower literature that needed to be changed, but that now wasn’t the right time to do it. He finishes off by explaining why he decided to leave the Society of Jehovah’s Witnesses and what he suffered as a result.
I really enjoyed these videos because I found Lance’s (and his interviewer’s) manner to be very unassuming. He is calm, thoughtful and succinct. He is not raving or angry, he doesn’t have an obvious agenda or a personal vendetta. Rather, he is answering questions based on his experiences. I hope you enjoy these videos as I have.

Thanks for your kind comments Moxie. I’ve only been out of the JW organization for 3 months, and I have become agnostic.
The support that I have received from ExJWs and from non-JWs has been invaluable as all my friends and most of my JW family refuse to talk to me. They are surprised that I no longer even believe in the Bible or in Jehovah, the WTS-God.
I am dealing with shunning by reach out to the billions of people who are willing to talk to me, since only a few million won’t.
Thanks for posting these, they’re really good, and definitely helped me to revise my attitude toward individuals involved in the organization. Lance’s words (especially about the humility of the Governing Body) helped remind me that these men aren’t necessarily lying or consciously seeking selfish interest; they’re simply wrong, and wrong in a way that doesn’t allow them to admit it.
I am happy to be out of the organization! It was torment living what I knew was a lie!
i was brought up in the truth, disfellowshiped at 15 years old,my jw mother put me care home,i ended up in jail.Got drunk and drugged up,well i only had few years left as armagedon was comin, right?Enjoy it.Im 33 now, married with 5 great children, how long do i have? i just dont know.Mother still in truth. My sister got disfellowshiped year after me,she was allowed to stay at home, messed up,confussed, thankyou for a loving organization,u really messed me up,no sorry its all my falt and satans!

I became a baptised witness in 1992 did everything I was told. I always had questions but was told not to ask these type if qyestions…just read your bible and listen to the faithful and descreet slave the door to door was never really successful and my husband decided he did not want witenesses in his house anymore because he had give up all holidays so that I could become a witness (in short)
1997 my marriage was over and so was my relationship with the witnesses I was no longer invited to anything I had given up all my old friends and actually had made very few witness friends after I got baptised… people were rude to me and treated me like I had the pleague…I then realized these people were just like any other people in the world nothing special ( I truly believed they were God’s chosen)
I started reading more and answering my own questions and soon left the organization…I now have no friends or family… my father died in April of this year and my older sister refused to attend the furneral services… I’m so glad to find this web site…
being able to read, listen to what other ex witenesses have to say is great… I found this intervue to be very informative and helpful in my quest for a better life after being a slave to false teachings for many years.
Lance:
MALAGRADECIDO ESTUPIDO.
