So Many Stories - Let’s Tell Them…

I’ve been so moved by all the heartfelt responses I’ve received over the last couple of months; others who have shared their own stories, offered advice from experience, asked questions and have just shared their thoughts with someone who can relate…

I started writing about my experiences as a former Jehovah’s Witness a few months ago. At first no one knew about my blog, no one else read it; it remained a hidden forum for me to vent about my experiences, release long-held frustrations, just express things that I had no one to tell them to. I suppose the ultimate goal was to possibly find some kind of closure. So you see I began with selfish intentions. I had hoped that writing would be part of a healing process. The truth is… it has been.

This blog is no longer quite so hidden. I have to admit that I was truly suprised at all the views, comments and emails it has triggered. That in itself speaks to me of the many, many thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people out there who have had similar experiences. Because of all this; telling and hearing stories, I have an overwealming sense that I am not alone, nor have I ever been. It helps me to put things into perspective - appreciating the positive, and putting the negative behind me.

Tell Your Story…

Now I would like to open this up to you. I would like to share this venue with others in the hopes that you may find the same kind of release and comfort that I have. I am inclined to believe that there are many people out there who would like to share their stories and experiences. Many stories are the same, many are different. Some may wish to speak publicly, while others may prefer anonymity. In any case, my offer is this: Share your story and if you would like me to publish it here on this blog “Conversations with an Ex-Jehovah’s Witness” I will do that, you need only to let me know.

I will of course review all submissions, and while censorship is a harsh word, I will not be posting malicious or hateful comments in general. But if you have a story you’d like to share, if you speak openly and honestly, if you are passionate about the subject of Jehovah’s Witnesses, if you have moved on and are happy, if you have not and are suffering… namely if you would like to be able to express yourself; even if it’s just for your own benefit- you may do it here.

I hope for those of you who take up this offer, that it can be a kind of healing for you, just as it has been for me. The purpose of this blog was never to defame the Jehovah’s Witnesses, but rather with heartfelt honesty, sincerity, solemnity, and sometimes a little humor it has always been a kind of therapy.  If it is ever defamatory, it is not such in a malicious sense, rather by virtue of truth.

Send in your stories and experiences by emailing me at citizenmoxie @ gmail [dot] com, or you can use the contact form on this website.

Jehovah’s Witnesses are the ‘perfect storm’ of deceptionI endured ritual cultic emotional, physical abuse from the Jehovah Witnesses.I was ‘born in’ 1957 to hard core ‘pioneer’ missionary parents.

My family started out broken by the watchtower cult and stayed poor, we lived hand to mouth and the watchtower ruled us with an iron fist.Had a brutal time going to school during the ‘better dead than red’ super nationalism of the early 1960’s.I got beat up in the school yard while the Watchtower/Jehovah’s Witnesses leaders who ran my show and made my rules had personal bodyguards.

They made us all dysfunctional with their 1975 end of the world coming fiasco (it’s all your own fault for serving Jehovah for a date)I was deprived of medical care
